Why SnapHistory was born
SnapHistory was born with two distinct objectives. The first is to encourage the training of young students and recent graduates, allowing them to try their hand at a concrete activity and compare themselves with expert people who can guide and help them.
It is certain that if you want to become a historian, you will certainly need to do research, document it, write books and articles. SnapHistory is an opportunity, mainly for young students and recent graduates, to do precisely this, engaging with an audience of readers, therefore in the real world, even outside the academic world. The second objective is dissemination. The audience of people who are interested in history, even just at an amateur level, perhaps as “devourers” of documentaries, is extremely large. This interest develops through more or less generic or specialist magazines, documentaries, books and sites.
SnapHistory offers a more agile and modern tool, but no less complete, thanks to the links present in each article, which also allow for a much more in-depth examination.
In fact, a possible trait d’union between the academic world and the general public. It allows experts to make the fruit of their work known to the public, albeit in a simplified form; which can also be complete through links to books and articles.
Who is “behind” Snap story?
In a certain sense “nobody”. There are no companies or interests, just a small group of people, lovers of history, who, as happens with many voluntary initiatives, have decided to dedicate economic resources and time to give birth to this project. There are no profit targets.
Where are we today?
After a lot of time and effort we are at a good point, the activity has started. The IT management platform is now completed, debugging has been carried out and the APP for mobile devices is also functional. We are still in the “recruitment” phase, meaning we already have a fair number of editors and experts; we also have several items. However, we must increase both the number of authors and experts and build a sufficiently large “warehouse” of articles before we can distribute the APP on the appropriate stores. This is why we ask you to participate in the initiative, as much as we think, we would say with enthusiasm. On the other hand, if you are an author and send an article, know that it will certainly be published, don’t expect to see it on the APP the next day.
Snap History is an initiative of willing and non-profit individuals, with the aim of:
- Stimulate interest in history among historians, students, enthusiasts and the curious
- Encourage students to discuss with each other and with industry experts
- Stimulate disclosure in a different and immediate way
Participating is free. Sign up* and start your exciting journey!
